India most interested in investments in automobile industry

BELGRADE - Indian businessmen are interested in investing in several fields in Serbia, especially in automobile industry, mechanical engineering and irrigation machinery, officials stated at the news conference following the visit of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) delegation to India.

  The Serbian business delegation headed by PKS President Zeljko Sertic stayed in India from January 24 to 30 where they conferred with Indian officials on the possibilities of investments in over 100 Serbian projects to the total value of over EUR 7 billion. Sertic told reporters that the aim of the visit was to present Serbia's potentials to Indian businessmen in order to elevate the economy to a higher level. He stated that the Serbian delegation visited the plant for production of automobile parts in New Delhi, where they learnt the details about its manner of operation and discussed the possibilities for implementing some of such procedures in Serbia.

 PKS president's Advisor for International Relations Zoran Bojovic said that companies from India have demonstrated interest in investing their funds in automobile industry and discussed the possibilities for opening production plants in Serbia and expanding the plants, especially in the tractor production sector. Indian Ambassador in Serbia Narinder Chauhan expressed satisfaction over the visit of the Serbian delegation to the country, and underscored that it is important for the two countries to reinforce their economic ties. She recalled the numerous bilateral agreements signed so far, especially in trade and agriculture sectors, and noted that the talks on cooperation in medicine and information and communication technologies are also under way.
