BELGRADE - Dragoljub Vucicevic, former director of Velefarm, Belgrade-based producer and distributor of medicines and other medical equipment, was arrested at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla airport on Wednesday, based on an arrest warrant issued by Interpol on the order of the Special Court in Belgrade.

Vucicevic was arrested after arriving on a regular flight from Vienna and was conducted to the Special Court, Tanjug has learned. He was arrested based on criminal charges filed by the Serbian Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime that also had Nenad Ognjenovic, former general manager of Galenika, once the most successful pharmaceutical company in Serbia, and eight other suspects, arrested in May.

Prosecutor for Oganized Crime Miljko Radisavljevic stated in May that the arrests were in connection with frauds in business activities of Galenika, Velefarm, and Pharma Trade, an off-shore company registered on the Marshall Islands, with operations in Switzerland. Pharma Trade is controlled by Radoslav Sekulic, owner of the pharmaceutical company Habit Pharm, who is currently under investigation in the Agrobanka case. Vucicevic is charged with abuse of power which brought Galenika losses of about EUR 12 billion during 2009 and 2010. Photo
