First Air Serbia airplane lands

10/19/2013 3:28:00 PM

BELGRADE - The first Air Serbia Airbus A319 landed at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport on Saturday escorted by two MiG 29s of the Serbian Armed Forces. The plane has Air Serbia written on it, while the tail has a stilized version of Serbia's medieval coat of arms featuring a two-headed eagle. The modern logo was created based on elements found in Serbia's oldest book, Miroslav's Gospel, and in Dusan's Code of Law.

The model of the aircraft is Airbus A319 and it is the first airplane of the new company that was rented for its needs. The airline will begin operating officially on October 26 with a flight to Abu Dhabi. The Serbian government signed a strategic partnership contract with Etihad Airways on August 1, which makes the airline from the United Arab Emirates the owner of 49 percent of the Serbian airline.
