Trains collide in Belgrade, over 20 people injured

BELGRADE - Two passenger trains collided at 13:30 CET on Thursday in the Tosin Bunar tunnel in Belgrade, and more than 20 passengers received light injuries, including one child. However, one of the train drivers sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Head of the Belgrade Sector for Emergency Situations Sanja Vuksanovic-Zugic said that a Belgrade-Sid train broke down and that a train traveling on the Belgrade-Subotica line hit it. Rail traffic came to a halt, but, after evacuating the passengers, one track was opened for traffic, while the other will be blocked during the investigation.

A total of six ambulance crews were seen taking care of the injured on both ends of the tunnel, and fire brigade and police are also on the spot. Photo Tanjug video, Z.Milenkovic
