BELGRADE - Honorary President of the Democratic Party (DS) Boris Tadic and Russian Patriarch Kirill both agreed in Saint Petersburg on Wednesday that the preservation of identity, cultural heritage and the safety of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) are the most important goals and that a solution which is not in contrast with that should be found. Tadic conferred with the Russian Patriarch about the situation in Kosovo, the Brussels agreement and Serbia's European path.

The main topic of the meeting was the issue of identity and preservation of cultural heritage in KiM, a statement issued by the DS reads. The DS honorary president urged the Patriarch to make every effort to prevent the seizure of Serbian cultural heritage and its renaming in the so-called Kosovo heritage within UNESCO. Tadic also met with Saint Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko and Governor of Kaluga Region Anatoly Artamonov. Photo Tanjug, Z. Zestic, archive
