PARIS - Serbia's Novak Djokovic is through to the third round at the French Open after beating Argentinian Guido Pella in straight sets 6-2, 6-0, 6-2 on Thursday. The world number one made easy work of the Argentinian, playing just well enough to justify his role of favorite in his first head-to-head against the number 83 on the ATP list. His next opponent is Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov, ranked 28, who bested Frenchman Lucas Pouille 6-1, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 in the second round.

Djokovic leads the head-to-head 2-1 and will now have a chance for a rematch after the defeat he suffered at the hands of the Bulgarian at this year's Masters tournament in Madrid. Jovanovski, Hrdinova ousted from doubles event Serbia's Bojana Jovanovski and Eva Hrdinova of the Czech Republic failed to qualify for the second round of the women's doubles event at the French Open, after losing to Slovakia-Germany pair of Janette Husarova / Sabine Lisicki 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Husarova and Lisicki will next to play either the Spanish pair of Carla Suarez Navarro / Silvia Soler Espinosa or the duo made up of Chan Yung-jan of Taiwan and Darija Jurak of Croatia.
