MOSCOW - The military cooperation between Serbia and Russia is good, but not exactly as we wish it to be given our joint interests, Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Ljubisa Dikovic, has said after a meeting with his Russian counterpart Valery Gerasimov in Moscow.

Dikovic pointed out that one of the goals of the meeting was to promote bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of schooling and training of members of the two armed forces, training them in the operation of complex combat systems that Serbia plans to acquire and joint training of special units. The chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation said that this year, the cooperation between the two ministries of defense started moving in a very positive direction, pointing to a recent meeting between the Defense Ministers of Serbia and Russia, Aleksandar Vucic and Sergey Shoygu, respectively, as an example. Gerasimov said that the signing in the Black Sea resort of Sochi on May 24 of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the two countries, which provides for a long-term cooperation, gave a new impetus to the bilateral cooperation in the military sphere.

The preparation is underway of a series of agreements between Russia and Serbia on military and technical, and military and scientific cooperation that should be signed during the visit of Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu to Serbia scheduled for October 1-2. Screenshoot video Tanjug
