Arrest in several countries over cocaine smuggling

BELGRADE - The international police action performed simultaneously in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Netherlands led to the arrest of several individuals on charges connected to smuggling and sale of cocaine imported from Latin America to Europe, Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic told Tanjug on Thursday.

  According to him, members of the service for the fight against organised crime in the Serbian Interior Ministry arrested Hadzi Zoran Jovanovic and Aleksandra Desnica in the territory of Serbia. Tanjug learnt in the Interior Ministry that the Serbian police and the Prosecutor's Office for Organised Crime, in cooperation with police services and prosecutor's offices from several countries, arrested several individuals and carried out searches in several locations on May 30, within a coordinated action. 

 The international police action aimed to find and arrest members of an organised crime ring smuggling and selling major quantities of cocaine imported to Europe from Latin America. The criminal ring is charged with sale of 15 kilograms of cocaine produced in the Netherlands on November 1 last year, when two individuals were arrested. Photo Tajug, N. Milosevic
