Vucic: Theft to be declared imprescriptible crime

NOVI SAD - Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated on Friday that there are some ideas about changing the Constitution so as to declare the theft of state funds a crime that does not grow obsolete.

This should not be seen as an initiative for changes in the Constitution which is carried out for any other purpose, Vucic said in Novi Sad after the celebration of the Day of Liberation of Novi Sad in World War I.

We believe it is very important for everyone in Serbia to understand that it does not pay off to steal and deal in crime and corruption, and this message will be made clear, Vucic said and added that the best legal modus needs to be found now so as to make it clear to people that they will have to answer for their actions in case they committed a crime against national and state property even after ten years have passed.

Vucic said that the essence of this measure is not embodied in the legal mechanism but in the political will which the coming generation would not be able to change.
