DS and SDA to form part of new government

BELGRADE - The Democratic Party (DS) and Sulejman Ugljanin's Party of Democratic Action (SDA) will form part of the new parliamentary majority and government, whose priority is continuing Serbia's European path, and fighting poverty and corruption, the DS announced late Monday.

After a meeting of the two parties' representatives on Monday, the DS said concrete agreements and personnel decisions will be made in future talks.

"The DS had talks on forming a government with the SDA today, and the two parties, which cooperated successfully during the last term, agreed to take part in the new parliamentary majority and government," says a release issued by the DS.

With talks on the program and economic policy of the future government moving ahead, the parties agreed the priority was continuing Serbia's European path, and fighting poverty and corruption, the DS added.

The SDA won two seats in the Serbian parliament in the May 6 election.
