Blast disturbs Kosovska Mitrovica

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Kosovo police said Monday that an explosion occured in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica early in the morning, causing only a minor damage to an apartment.

The blast occurred one hour after midnight in the northern part of Mitrovica, but nobody got injured, Regional Spokesman for the Kosovo Police Service Besim Hoti told Tanjug.

Hoti said that the preliminary results of the investigation showed that the blast had been caused by pyrotechnics.

According to Hoti, police units conducted an investigation at the site and the case was registered as causing general danger.

The explosion was very loud and could be heard in almost the entire city, said Hoti, adding that the device that went off was probably a large size firecracker, of the so-called "salute" variety.
