Troicki beats Mayer, Serbia leads 1-0

DUSSELDORF - Serbia has gained a 1-0 lead over Germany in the 3rd round of the World Cup blue group in Dusseldorf since Viktor Troicki beat Florian Mayer 7(8)-6 6-3.

Serbia is a step away from the final, and the winner of the duel will be decided by the outcome of the matches on Friday, when Janko Tipsarevic will play Philipp Kohlschreiber and the two teams will face off in a doubles match. The red group is made up of the Czech Republic, Argentina, Japan and the U.S.. The Czechs have two victories and Argentina is their main rival in fighting for the final.
