Over 20 drug dealers arrested

The notorious drug dealer Hikmet Hajrovic from Novi Pazar (southwestern Serbia) and another 20 persons have been arrested in a police operation carried out across Serbia, and several dozen kilograms of heroin were found in their possession, Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic told Tanjug Friday.

Veljovic specified that the Belgrade Criminal Police carried out the operation in the Serbian capital, as well as Kraljevo (central Serbia) and Novi Pazar, in coordination with the Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office and special units of the Serbian Interior Ministry.

This is one of the strongest criminal groups that has for years been involved in dealing, procuring, and distributing narcotics, primarily heroin, Veljovic stressed.


Dacic: 16 more drug dealers arrested

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said Friday that along with the arrest of a group of drug dealers led by Hikmet Hajrovic from Novi Pazar, the police also arrested a group of 16 members of a group led by Dalibor Ristic.

Dacic told reporters in Uzice said that the arrests are continuing and that several kilograms of heroin and paracetamol were seized.
