SARAJEVO - Reports by media in Sarajevo have so far differed as to the number of persons who opened fire at the U.S. Embassy building in that city Friday and the number of people wounded.

The Federal Television (FTV) of Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) claims the attacker was a radical Islamist from the southern Serbian city of Novi Pazar.

According to FTV, Mevlud Jasarevic from Novi Pazar got off a tram near the embassy and fired an automatic weapon at the U.S. mission.

OBN, another TV station, said that a worker at the mission had been wounded, but his life was not in danger. The broadcaster also said that two men identified as members of the Wahhabi branch of Islam had been arrested near the Holiday Inn hotel located close to the embassy.

Several police patrols, including members of the special operations team, were sent to the scene as soon as the firing was heard.
